Gold's Gym

Are there worse gyms around? I’m not sure, but it would be worth your time to find out. If I could rate this gym lower I would. I can’t say this gym is never cleaned (because some of the patrons wipe down the machines after they use them), but I am really not sure if the staff cleans on a regular basis because it always is so dirty. The equipment is not maintained and many things end up being down for service for weeks. The equipment that does work has loose pulleys, ripped upholstery, or seats that may fall off. Good luck finding attachments for cable equipment - though when you do they’re often broken. Many patrons have resorted to buying and bringing their own. This place also frequently opens late. It seems they can’t staff to the correct levels and many of the staff have said they don’t get paid very well. There are frequently new faces who say they didn’t get much training or were not given keys to open (even though they are scheduled to open). The local management/owners don’t seem to care about much other than signing new members and the equipment they personally use. The only point that draws people to this gym is their hours (if they open on time) and their central location. There are other gyms within a couple miles/a few minutes that offer a better experience at similar pricing and hours of operation. I would highly recommend checking out one of those options first and avoiding this place at all costs.

This is an older gym but the do have some New equipment. The spin bikes are great. The ellipticals and treadmills are a little on the older side. Overall this is a decent gym and judging by the size of the crowd tonight, it’s one of the more popular ones. The bathroom and shower facilities are average….verging on below average. They need to up their game here.

I attempted to cancel due to a move and was told I had to come in person. No problem. Come to find out I had a close friend who went in in 2021 to check on her account. She was told she had no account and was told to set one up online because it would be cheaper. This year, she attempted to cancel and was told to come in when a manager was there and she showed 3 times. She was told no manager was there and she no longer was able to show up in person because she too moved away. Lo and behold, in 2021 there was a drastic oversight by the company and she DID have an account. That account got sent to collections with no notification to her. And she kept trying to cancel the newest membership and told no multiple times. So she’s been screwed over by this gym on multiple occasions. There has been gross negligence by this gym and they have told her they will not be forgiving the collections nor reimbursing her for the months she was charged after showing up numerous times to cancel. If you want to get screwed out of time and money then this is the gym for you.

Folks, I have been going to this gym for 10 years, still not sure why I stay but its easy for me in the am. This is the most mismanaged business I have ever seen. Nobody knows what the hell is going on; cant open on time, machines broke, bathrooms are terrible and stay broken, and garbage stays full. On top of that the communication is zero. They are closing on the 14th for 2 weeks, and still have not posted any signs, they assume everyone has facebook. The owners dont even want to admit they own the place (John - one of three). they are investing in a new renovation, but still cant fix the bathrooms. Maybe this two week closure will be motivation for a lot of us to go to crunch or another gym.
